The energy was high on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Something that John Tortorella hoped would carry over into tonight’s game against the Stanley Cup Champions.

One thing the Flyers have had no problem doing this season is playing hard against the top teams in the NHL.

While the results have not been their recently, the effort has. Which has been a highlight of John Tortorella after every game.

Tonight, especially in the 1st period, it didn’t look like that same effort was going to be there. A concern as it would have been the second straight game with a bad effort against a top team.

However, the Flyers had other ideas and it all started by their energy line.

Ryan Poehling, Garnet Hathaway, and Scott Laughton was one of the Flyers best lines earlier in the season.

For the first time since November, the trio were reunited last game. Scoring two goals in their first game back together.

Tonight, the line contributed once again. Scoring the Flyers opening goal on a hard-working, hard-checking shift.

Garnet Hathaway would get his second goal in as many games just before the mid-way point of the 2nd period.

His 5th goal of the season was created by the hard work from Scott Laughton in center ice. Causing a turnover that led to a 2v1 with Poehling and Garnet Hathaway.

The goal would start the Flyers comeback.

In the 3rd period, it was the Flyers special teams that fueled the comeback. But, not the obvious one.

The power-play scored on both of its man-advantage’s in the 3rd period.

Noah Cates got the first one. His first of two 3rd period goals was a slam dunk off the big rebound given up by Sergei Bobrovsky.

The eventual game winner came on the breakaway. Beating Bobrovsky high over the glove with a slick forehand backhand move.

Morgan Frost would get the second one. Finishing off an incredible pass by Jamie Drysdale to Matvei Michkov on the back post.

His 10th goal of the season is his third goal in the last three games.

Samuel Ersson 20 saves in the win. Including four huge saves in tight late in the 3rd period.

In his last 5 starts, he is 4-1-0 with 1.40 GAA and .920%.

The Flyers have won two straight for the first time since December 10th and 12th. Improve to 19-20-5 on the season.

Next up, the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow night in Columbus at 7:00 pm.
