It was game two of the John Tortorella suspension. A game in which the Flyers could have used their bench boss after the start.

The Maple Leafs would score three times in the first 14 minutes of the game. Chasing starting netminder Sam Ersson from the game after the 1st period.

Two of the three goals were not at the fault of Ersson. But, the third goal was a weak shot from the point that lead to his departure.

Owen Tippett would provide the Flyers some jump to start the 2nd period. Scoring his 24th goal of the season on the power-play just 1:29 into the period.

However, the Flyers could not muster anything after that.

Felix Sandstrom, in relief of Sam Ersson, kept the Flyers in the game until the 3rd period. Making nine saves in the 2nd period.

Sandstrom then allowed two goals – Auston Matthews & William Nylander – in a span of 8 seconds in the 3rd period to put the game away for the Leafs.

The Flyers now head to Boston for the second game of their seven game gauntlet against the top five teams in the Eastern Conference.
