The 35-year-old defenseman is in the last year of a two-year, $3,600,000 contract ($1,800,000 AAV) signed before the 2020-2021 season.

After the 2018-2019 season, the Flyers acquired Justin Braun from the San Jose Sharks, who was in the final year of a five-year, $19,000,000 contract ($3,800,000 AAV). The Flyers sent a 2019 2nd round pick & 2020 3rd round pick to San Jose for Braun.

“Probably the best word is reliability,” Flyers interim head coach Mike Yeo said in late February. “He’ll show up night after night, he’ll take hits to make plays, he’ll be first on pucks, in the d-zone, he’ll block shots, he has attention to detail. He does all of the things that are asked of him.”

New York is currently second in the Metropolitan Division with an 40-18-5 record.

On the season, Braun has 5 goals & 11 assists in 61 games. Including 114 blocks, second best on the Flyers.

In his 176 games in Philadelphia, Braun finished his three-year Flyers career with 9 goals & 32 assists.

Braun is in the final year of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent at seasons end.

The Flyers received a 3rd round pick in 2023 for Braun. No salary retention by the Flyers.
