Joel Farabee To IR; Wade Allison Recalled

Just when you thought the Philadelphia Flyers situation couldn’t get any worse, another blow happens. This time to Joel Farabee.

On Friday, the Flyers announced Joel Farabee would miss 4-weeks due to an upper-body injury.

“The Philadelphia Flyers have placed forwards Kevin Hayes and Joel Farabee on Injured Reserve. Farabee is expected to miss up to four weeks with an upper body injury.” – Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher

On Tuesday, Farabee took a big clean hit from Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson. Farabee was in a lot of discomfort after the hit & skated hunched over to the Flyers bench holding his right shoulder. Farabee did return to the game & finished with 19:56 of ice time.

Last night, even with 20:54 of ice time, Farabee looked a little off. Looked like Farabee was battling controlling the puck, kinda like when a goalie has trouble tracking the puck.

In 33-games this season, Farabee has 11-goals & 7-assists for the Flyers.

To replace Farabee in the lineup, the Flyers recalled Wade Allison from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

“The Flyers have recalled the following players to the club’s Taxi Squad from their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms: F – Wade Allison : F – Jackson Cates.” – Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher

Wade Allison, who has yet to play for the Flyers this season due to injury, has been regaining his conditioning with the Phantoms over the past three-weeks.

During rookie camp, Allison suffered a high-ankle sprain that kept him out for the first two months of the season. In his first attempt to returning, Allison injured his elbow in his 3rd game of the season with the Phantoms in mid-December.

In 7-games this season, Allison had 3-goals & 1-assist for the Phantoms. Including all 3-goals coming in his last 3-games.

Allison will make his season debut tomorrow when the Flyers travel to Buffalo to take on the Sabres.

The Flyers also announced that Kevin Hayes was moved to IR & Connor Bunnaman was loaned back to the Phantoms.

Taking Bunnaman’s place is Jackson Cates, who was also recalled with Wade Allison on Friday.
