Report: Flyers Cam Atkinson Done For The Season

Another day, another bad Philadelphia Flyers injury update. This time surrounding forward Cam Atkinson.

According to Ant SanFilippo of Crossing Broad, Cam Atkinson is done for the season. Will miss the remainder of the season as he will undergo a non-orthopedic medical procedure.

SanFilippo went on to say that out of respect of privacy to Cam Atkinson, the specifics would not be published prior to the Flyers announcing the details.

Atkinson, who has missed the first 32-games of the season, is in his 2nd season with the Flyers.

After initially being marked as day-to-day, those days turned into weeks. Then, those weeks turned into months.

While it’s easy to point the blame at the organization here for another botched injury diagnosis, this is a serious medical situation for Cam Atkinson. Something that could effect his future NHL career.

The sense around the organization was they all believed Atkinson would play. Even if you asked Atkinson himself, he would have probably said the same thing.

It’s an odd timeline for how this has all played out. But, Atkinson’s health has been the #1 priority.

Atkinson returned to practice two weeks ago after being fully cleared for contact. But, had yet to make his return to the lineup after telling reporters last week his conditioning was not there yet.

Wish Cam Atkinson a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the ice next season.
