The Flyers have been on a roll lately. In large part to the great goal-tending that Samuel Ersson has provided over the past four games.
But, that took a big hit on Saturday.
Just 7:36 into the game, during the first TV timeout, Ersson signaled for the trainer and met head athletic trainer Tommy Alva by the bench. A quick conversation was had before he exited the ice for the locker room.
On replay, it looked like Ersson was pointing towards his lower-half.
Earlier in the period, a Nikita Zadorov shot knocked Ersson’s skate blade off. But, on second look, the puck hit him directly on the toe. Which, could be where he was pointing too.
“Have not spoken to training staff,” John Tortorella said postgame. Per Flyers PR, lower-body injury for Ersson.
Aleksei Kolosov, who has been the Flyers backup the past two games, would enter the game.
In just his second career NHL game, Kolosov would have his hands full. Especially with the Bruins already outshooting the Flyers 9-3 before the Ersson injury.
Kolosov finished the day with 20 saves in relief in the 3-0 loss to the Bruins.

The power-play struggles continued for the Flyers. Failing to score for the fourth straight game.
Over the past five games, the Flyers man advantage has just 1 goal in in their last 13 opportunities. Including no goals in their last 12 opportunities.
Today, against the Bruins, both Flyers power-plays failed to register a shot. Both of which were spent mostly in their own zone after not being able to get the puck in the Bruins zone.
On the other hand, the penalty kill continued its success. Killing off both Bruins man advantages.
During the same five game stretch, the Flyers penalty kill has allowed just 2 goals in 14 opportunities. Including a perfect 2 for 2 today against the Bruins.
In the two games against the Bruins this week, the power-play is o for 5. While the penalty kill is 6 for 6.
The Flyers fall to to 4-7-1 on the season. Next up, the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday night in Raleigh at 7:00pm.
