One player has stood out for the Philadelphia Flyers through their first six games of the season.
No, it’s not Matvei Michkov. It’s not Travis Konecny either. The one player that continues drive the play for the Flyers is Owen Tippett.
Tippett, who is a player the Flyers need top produce if they are going to have success, is doing just that.
In the first five games, he led the Flyers in goals (3) and shots on goal (14).
Rick Tocchet compared his play to Dallas Stars’ superstar Mikko Rantanen this morning.
“I don’t want to compare him but if you watch Rantanen — I’ve been watching him this year — going through the neutral zone, powerful speed,” Tocchet told reporters this morning.
Tonight, that speed and play driving was on full display once again.
After Sean Couturier forced a turnover from Kraken goalie Joey Daccord, all that was needed by Tippett was a tip for his first goal of the night.
In the second period, his speed and play driving created the Flyers fifth goal of the game, third in the second period.
Tippett swung wide into the zone and worked a give-and-go with Sean Couturier. It created a narrow hole that he fired the puck through for his second of the game and his fifth of the season.

Tyson Foerster scored his second and third goals of the season, both coming on the power-play.
His first came was a twisted wrister from the slot just before the power-play expired. The second came off a tip from a point shot by Cam York.
Cam York looked like his normal self after struggling to find his legs in his first two games. York finished with three point, all assists, in 21:49.
Nikita Grebenkin earned some hard fought points in the locker room amongst his teammates. He came to the aide of Garnet Hathaway after taking a huge hit in center ice.
Trevor Zegras extended his point streak to five games. He has an assist in each of the last five games.
Dan Vladar won his third start game in net, stopping Kraken shots. He improves to 3-1-0 on the season.
The Flyers return to action on Thursday in Ottawa at 7:00pm when they take on the Senators.
