PHILADELPHIA – Travis Konecny and Trevor Zegras both scored in the second period to lift the Flyers to an 4-1 win over the visiting Washington Capitals
It was their league leading 18th come-from-behind win on the season.
Konecny’s scored his team leading 24th goal of the season. While Zegras’ 22nd goal extended his point streak to three games.
After allowing the first goal for the 44th time this season, another comeback was needed to earn their 30th win of the season. Samuel Ersson made 21 saves for his second straight win.
Since returning from the Olympic break, Ersson is 2-0-0 with 1.28 GAA and .939%.
The penalty kill allowed a goal for the fifth straight game. Over the last five games, the Flyers special team unit has allowed seven goals.
On the season, the penalty kill is in the bottom third of the league, sitting at 24th with an 77% average.
Jamie Drysdale extended the Flyers lead to 3-1 with 12:43 left in the third period. His seventh goal of the season was his second goal in the last five games.
Owen Tippett provided the empty netter with 1:03 left for his second point of the night. It was his seventh multi-point game of the season.
Ten Flyers finished the night with at least a point. Travis Sanhiem, Alex Bump, Carl Grundstrom, Cam York, and Christian Dvorak all finished with one assist each. Noah Cates finished the night with two assists.
The Flyers return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Minnesota to play the Wild at 8:00pm.
