PHILADELPHIA – On the night where their GM Danny Briere tried to put cold water on the recent noise around the team, the team announced the bell. Ending a four game losing streak.

Briere echoed Rick Tocchet’s recent statements about the team is still learning how to play in these types of games. Tonight, the Flyers finally broke through on just that.

After giving up a two goal lead, the Flyers needed a good third period to end their losing streak. One that came in a way they have struggled to do so all season.

With 5:47 left in the game, a Flyers power-play was the break through to get a much needed two points.

Jamie Drysdale’s point shot would find its way through traffic in-front. Beating Capitals goal-tender Clay Stevenson high over the blocker.

His fourth goal of the season ended a 20 game goal-less drought. It was the third straight game the Flyers have scored on the man-advantage.

Owen Tippett and Carl Grundstrom provided the Flyers offense early to give them a 2-0 lead.

Tippett’s 20th goal of the season was set up by Matvei Michkov’s pressure in the offensive zone. Grundstrom’s eighth goal of the season was a result of a lucky bounce off a Capital in-front.

Travis Konecny extended his point streak to four games with an assist on Drysdale’s game winner. He has five goals and three assists in his last four games.

Dan Vladar continues his accession to being the Flyers number one goal-tender moving forward. He made 26 saves, including two huge ones late on Alex Ovechkin, to win his 17th game of the season.

Matvei Michkov, the center of the noise, played 15:37 and assisted on Tippett’s goal. It was just the 15th time (54th game) he has played over 15:30 this season.

The Flyers finish their pre-Olympic schedule on Thursday when they host the Ottawa Senators at 7:00pm.
