PHILADELPHIA – Travis Konecny and Christian Dvorak each had multiple points in the third period to provide the necessary offense in Saturday’s 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins.
Konecny’s 23rd goal of the season opened the scoring with 16:19 left in the game. Dan Vladar and Jeremy Swayman put on a show in the first two periods. Neither allowing a goal on 32 combined shots.
Dvorak’s first assist was an incredible backhand pass to the surging Konecny. The puck took a bad bounce in the corner and right in-front of Swayman.
Konecny and Dvorak both assisted on Jamie Drysdale’s game winning goal with 8:05 left.
Drysdale’s sixth goal of the season came after Konecny patiently out-waited the Bruins defense. Allowing Drysdale to sneak into the high slot for the goal.
Dan Vladar was the real star of the show though.
The Flyers starter stopped the first 24 shots fired his way. None bigger then the three on Morgan Geekie during a 16 save second period.
Geekie was robbed three times during the middle period by Vladar, a reverse hat-trick if you may. Vladar finished with 26 saves in his 18th win of the season.
Sean Couturier added the empty netter with 53 seconds left. His first goal in 31 games.
Denver Barkey did not play and was labeled as a healthy scratch. Nic Deslauriers entered the lineup for Barkey.
Deslauriers made his presence known quickly as he dropped the gloves with Tanner Jeannot. A heavyweight bout that went to Jeannot.
The two were seen talking pregame, which possibly set up the fight.
The Flyers return to action on Monday night when they travel to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs at 7:00pm.
