PHILADELPHIA – For the ninth time in their last 11 home games, the Philadelphia Flyers skated off their home ice with a loss. Losing to the New York Rangers 6-2.

In those 11 games, they are being outscored 41-19 and have scored two or fewer goals in eight of them, including tonight.

The Rangers scored six times in the first two periods to put this one away early. Three of the six goals came on the power-play.

The Flyers penalty kill was just one for four on the night.

In their last 11 games meetings in Philadelphia, the Rangers have won nine of them. Adding to an already lopsided scoreline in those games with six more goals tonight.

New York has out-scored the Flyers in Philadelphia 43-22 in that stretch.

Matvei Michkov scored his 16th goal of the season on the power-play in the second period. His third goal since returning from the Olympic break.

Jamie Drysdale and Trevor Zegras picked up the assists. It was Zegras’s second straight game with an assist.

Sean Couturier scored his first goal on a goalie in 35 games in the third period. His first goal in 31 games against Boston was an empty netter.

Dan Vladar was chased from the game after two periods. While his save line said six goals allowed, only one was the fault of Vladar. The remaining five were a result of the poor play in-front of him.

“We pissed the game away in-front of him,” Sean Couturier told the media postgame.

Samuel Ersson saw his first game action in 10 days in the third period. He made saves on all three shots fired his way.

The Flyers return to action on Wednesday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena when they host the Washington Capitals at 7:30pm.
